CIVITAS Day in Brno focuses on vandalism

CIVITAS Initiative

In September 2010 the second CIVITAS day took place in Brno. The event was organised in the framework of the European Mobility Week by the City of Brno in cooperation with the city of Brno Transportation Company. This year's CIVITAS day focused on vandalism in mass transportation vehicles.

Over the course of the entire European Mobility Week from 16- 22 September, a scrapped bus was parked on Malinovského square. This bus served as an illustration of the vandals' raid. Everyone was given the opportunity to try to clean a patch of its body and then to spray it again. The Brno metropolitan police were also present at a stall. Both children and adults were given the opportunity to test their knowledge of the traffic signs and regulations. An integral part of the programme was the announcement of the winners of the CIVITAS summer competition. First place went to the pupils of class 5.A from Palackého elementary school, that won the sightseeing boat trip.
