Webinar
On Tuesday 19th November 2019, the H2020 project CoEXist and Civitas held a joint webinar on automation-ready transport modelling tools. The speakers addressed the question: How to include Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) in traffic flow and transport demand simulations?
The overall aim of CoEXist is to prepare the transition phase during which automated and conventional vehicles will co-exist on cities’ roads and to make local authorities “automation-ready”.
CoEXist defines the concept of “automation-readiness” as: “The capability of making structured and informed decisions about the deployment of CAVs in a mixed road environment.”
The webinar guides the audience through the new functionalities of the automation-ready modelling tools to understand the benefits of such functionalities.
It is explained how automated vehicles could be modelled at a microscopic scale the operation of CAVs in platoons as well as at the macroscopic level, including the impacts of CAVs on transport demand and traffic time performance.

The Sustainable Urban Mobility Indicators (SUMI) project invites you to save the date for the launch of its online indicator training course!
The course is aimed at representatives of urban areas that want to measure and track the performance of sustainable mobility and mobility professionals that would like to better understand the collection of urban mobility data.
Course tutors will provide expert insight to familiarise participants with the SUMI indicator set and to offer guidance in the process of applying the indicators with real-world examples.
During the course, mobility experts will be on hand to answer any questions participants may have about the indicators. Participants will also be able to access online course materials and an online forum at any point after the course finishes.
The course is structured along four main themes:
The course will conclude with a live webinar highlighting the performance of a custom-made benchmarking tool that will compare the performance of the cities who participated in the initial testing and revision of the SUMI indicator set.
The eCourse will be launched on 18 November and will be active until 13 December.
Participants can access the course on the Rupprecht Consult eLearning Platform.

On 25th September 2019, PTV organised a public webinar about the modelling tool Visum, and in particular the automation-ready features developed within CoEXist.
The main presenter is Dr. Anett Ehlert, PTV.
More information on the project can be found on www.h2020-coexist.eu
Webinar
After examining the current status and available business models of car sharing in the EU in the first STARS project webinar, the second one sees STARS results discussed from the perspective of local authorities.
Local authorities have the power to influence urban mobility and car sharing implementation through policies and stakeholder engagement.
The speakers address some of the important components of car sharing that could ease the implementation of car sharing at the local level.
Webinar
This topic is crucial, but remains largely unexplored. Suburban areas have remained largely unaddressed in terms of dealing with high demand for passenger and freight traffic.
Moreover, due to increasingly high urban centre developments, additional pressure hast been imposed on suburban areas, which then face specific challenges of:

What is co-creation, and how can it be used to begin transforming our neighbourhoods into more vibrant, liveable spaces for all people who live, move, shop, attend schools, and relax in them?
From 2 – 30 September 2019, CIVITAS SUNRISE will offer an interactive, self-paced e-course for practitioners in city administrations who want to initiate and coordinate a co-creative process in one of their neighbourhoods.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from SUNRISE’s experts, who will walk you through the co-creation process.
They will highlight the tools and strategies that have been applied in the six SUNRISE Action Neighbourhoods in in Bremen (Germany), Budapest (Hungary), Jerusalem (Israel), Malmo (Sweden), Southend-on-Sea (UK) and Thessaloniki (Greece).
A series of exercises will guide you through the process of creating your own, locally specific co-creation action plan for a neighbourhood of your choice.
You will also be able to discuss with other e-course participants through a discussion forum under the moderation of SUNRISE experts.
Learn on your own time and at your own pace – free of charge! This e-course will be available at all times during the duration outlined above.
No prior knowledge is required. Participants who successfully complete all course tasks will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Join our interactive learning community of transport practitioners from cities across Europe!
To register for the course, please email Amelie Metze: a.metze@rupprecht-consult.eu.
More information will be available soon on the CIVITAS SUNRISE website: www.civitas-sunrise.eu.
Webinar
In this webinar, the key components of the CIVITAS evaluation process are discussed. Dirk Engels, Transport and Mobility Leuven, presents the key elements of this innovative approach.
This centres on conducting both process and impact evaluations. By doing so, it is possible to understand the barriers to and drivers of a measure's implementation, as well as the effect that it has.
Through its six impact categories, the CIVITAS approach tells the full story of mobility measures, one that extends beyond pure facts and figures.
eCourse
Course Overview
This course is designed to build and/or strengthen the capacity of small-medium cities’ Local Authorities to facing current challenges when implementing innovative transport schemes, i.e car-sharing, ridesharing (carpooling – vanpooling), bike – sharing, MaaS etc.
Who is this course for?
The course is aimed mainly at transport planners in local authorities of small and medium sized cities. Other interested individuals are also welcome, e.g. from consultancies or recent graduates.
Overall aim of the course
To increase the capacity of S-M cities, to implement and monitor the Innovative Transport Schemes (InnoTS) measures throughout policymaking, budgeting, designing and facing the current challenges when implementing these measures.
Specific objectives of the course
Increasing the understanding about the value of InnoTS in our cities, the effects/cost of lack of urban mobility regulations, the operators and the economy of the city, the stakeholders involved and their needs and about the concept and methodology for implementing InnoTS measures while being able to recognise or find out the needs of urban freight transport users.
Building specific skills regarding how success of the measures can be ensured
By convincing stakeholders and by overcoming financial, legal, administrative and technical barriers
Specifically, the course is designed to:
Strengthen cooperation between LA’s staff
Advance local priorities on InnoTS
Offer concrete practical tools and guidance to better implement these Schemes
