Vice-President Siim Kallas invited urban mobility stakeholders to the conference ‘Towards competitive and resource efficient urban mobility’ to take place at the Committee of the Regions, in Brussels on 17 September.
This conference marked the launch of the public consultation on the EU’s urban mobility activities in the context of the White Paper ‘Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area - Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system’. The event was aimed at institutional stakeholders as well as local government, transport users and operators, and industry and research representatives.
The event also took stock of the accomplishments of the CIVITAS initiative. Launched in 2002, CIVITAS celebrated its 10th anniversary of supporting cities in implementing ambitious transport measures and policies towards sustainable urban mobility.
The event took place in room VM3 of the Committee of the Regions, rue Van Maerlant 2, 1040 Brussels.
