CIVITAS CATALIST Urban Goods Workshop in collaboration with POLIS working group on Urban goods

BRUSSELS, Belgium

WorkshopCIVITAS Initiative

The City of Gothenburg leads the thematic working group of Urban Goods, within the CIVITAS project CATALIST. An urban goods workshop was held in Brussels on the 11th to 12th of February 2010 . The meeting was organised in conjunction with a POLIS Working group meeting on Freight where EC Policies, projects and priorities for cities and regions were discussed. Urban goods and city logistics is in many cities not a prioritised subject and many different stakeholders depend on a functioning and efficient urban goods system. This CIVITAS CATALIST workshop had the aim to gather city representatives and others to discuss the role of the cities when it comes to urban goods on a more strategic level. How can cities collaborate to raise the issue of urban freight on local, regional, national and European transport (political) agenda? In this CIVITAS CATALIST urban goods workshop, we also saw the need for following up on what has happened with the freight and logistics projects that were carried out within CIVITAS I & II and learn from the experiences and discuss what has become of them.
