Hannover (Germany)

Formed in 2001 from the merger of the Hannover District and the Greater Hannover Municipal Association, the regional authority today bundles essential services of general interest for 1.2 million inhabitants in 21 towns and municipalities - including the state capital Hannover. The city of Hannover is located on the river Leine. It is the capital of the federal state of Lower Saxony, Germany and a major centre for trade, commerce and business in northern Germany. It is located 150 km south of Hamburg and 300 km west of Berlin.
