Bremen (Germany)
The city of Bremen (officially known as the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen) is a port and trade centre in northwestern Germany on the banks of the river Weser, close to the North Sea. The “state of Bremen” comprises the City of Bremen and the City of Bremerhaven.
Bremen is the tenth largest city in Germany, with a population of 555,000. Besides its port, Bremen is traditionally home to automotive, electronic, steel, aircraft and food industries. The service sector is currently growing and the city is developing into a high-tech congress and trade fair site. A university, colleges and other research institutions also make Bremen an attractive academic centre.
