Porto (Portugal)

Porto, Portugal's second-largest city, has been proactively enhancing its sustainable mobility and transport systems. In recent years, the Porto Metropolitan Area (PMA) has focused on modernizing public transportation by introducing a more efficient bus fleet, reducing the number of operators, and ensuring uniform quality standards. These changes aim to improve connectivity between various transport modes and increase public transport utilization. In November 2024, the Portuguese government approved the Green Mobility Package, comprising 13 measures designed to transform passenger and freight mobility nationwide. These initiatives focus on expanding public transport access, developing active travel infrastructure, and modernizing freight systems to minimize environmental impact.
