Fethiye (Türkiye)

Fethiye, a rapidly growing tourist city, faces significant mobility challenges from both its resident population and seasonal visitor influx. Key issues include traffic congestion during peak season, limited parking, and high demand for transport from coastal and rural areas into the city center. Pedestrian safety and the development of cycling infrastructure also remain pressing needs.

The municipality’s urban mobility goals focus on promoting environmentally friendly transport, strengthening public transit, encouraging walking and cycling, reducing private vehicle traffic in the city center, and implementing smart mobility solutions to improve safety and accessibility.

Fethiye is expanding bicycle paths, developing an integrated public transport network connecting the coast and city center, and enhancing accessibility for people with disabilities. Seasonal traffic planning is also prioritised to manage tourist-period congestion while supporting sustainable mobility year-round. The city is currently preparing its first Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).
