CIVITAS Deep Dive on Exploring SUMPs

Workshop

civitas deep dive sump

The CIVITAS Deep Dive offers participants an in-depth exploration of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs), guiding them through the process of developing and implementing such plans in their own cities. The programme begins with an introduction to SUMPs, covering the fundamentals and key challenges involved. Participants then dive into specific topics such as logistics, tourism, and urban nodes, and learn how to integrate these elements into a SUMP.

Participants also explore how to measure the success of their plans through urban mobility indicators, learning how to define and track key performance indicators (KPIs). By using data, they can monitor the progress of their measures, evaluate their effectiveness, and make data-driven adjustments to their plans.

Participants assess their own SUMP, determining whether it still aligns with current policy goals and making any necessary adjustments. Throughout the programme, they work on an action plan, developing concrete steps to improve and implement their SUMP. They present their action plans to peers and experts, receiving valuable feedback to help refine their strategies. Between sessions, participants complete assignments and reflect on the progress of their plans.

Throughout the programme, participants develop an action plan, outlining concrete steps to evaluate and/or implement (parts of) their SUMP. The in-person session provides an opportunity to present the action plan, receive feedback from peers and experts, and refine the plan.
