Las Rozas (Spain)

Las Rozas, a municipality in the Madrid metropolitan area, is actively pursuing sustainable mobility initiatives to enhance urban transport and reduce environmental impact. In 2021, Las Rozas Innova initiated the development of a new Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), aiming to create a comprehensive action plan that offers citizens diverse, sustainable, and safe transportation alternatives.

The city has demonstrated a strong commitment to green mobility by adopting an "electric-first" approach. This includes subsidizing home vehicle charging, introducing e-bikes, and implementing a vehicle-sharing program. Notably, Las Rozas boasts the highest percentage of electric vehicles in Spain, with 10% of its vehicle fleet being electric.

Furthering its sustainable agenda, Las Rozas has installed 41 electric vehicle charging stations in municipal parking areas and has transitioned its entire urban bus fleet to zero-emission vehicles. Additionally, the city has conducted pilot projects, such as testing autonomous delivery vehicles, to explore innovative mobility solutions.
