Nazareth (Israel)

Nazareth, Israel's largest Arab city, is actively advancing sustainable mobility initiatives to enhance transportation and reduce environmental impact. A pivotal project is the Haifa–Nazareth Light Rail (Nofit), a 41-kilometer tram-train system connecting Haifa to Nazareth, with 20 stations along the route. Expected to serve 120,000 passengers daily upon completion, this initiative aims to provide efficient public transportation and decrease reliance on private vehicles. This development aligns with Israel's broader national strategy to promote sustainable urban mobility, emphasizing public transportation, walking, and cycling to reduce car usage. The national plan, projected to cost NIS 17-21 billion by 2040, aims to transform urban mobility across the country.
