Heidelberg (Germany)

Heidelberg, located in southwestern Germany along the Neckar River, is a leader in sustainable urban mobility. The city's compact layout and proximity to the Odenwald hills support its commitment to eco-friendly transport.

Approximately 33% of residents use bicycles for daily commutes, facilitated by a 480 km network of bike paths and initiatives like the RadKULTUR program. Public transport, managed by Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (RNV), includes trams and buses, serving nearly a third of the population. Heidelberg has also introduced electric buses and is expanding its tram network to enhance connectivity.
