Paris (France)

Paris is one of the largest cities in Europe, and with that comes the challenges of creating a transport system that serves its millions of inhabitants. The city has proactively embraced sustainable mobility initiatives to enhance urban transport and reduce environmental impact. In a recent referendum, 65.96% of residents voted to pedestrianize 500 additional streets, aiming to decrease car usage and improve air quality.

Paris has also expanded its cycling infrastructure through the "Plan Vélo", increasing bike lanes from 700 km to over 1,000 km by 2019, with the goal of making cycling the second most popular transport mode after public transit. As a result, bicycle usage rose by 54% within a year. Paris's commitment to sustainable mobility earned it the 2023 Sustainable Transport Award, recognizing its efforts to promote active transportation and reclaim urban spaces for public use.
