Žilina, Slovakia –  April 2025

The City of Žilina has launched a new intelligent parking monitoring system on Anton Bernoláka Street to improve traffic flow and support sustainable urban transport.

Implemented with nearly €64,000 in funding from the Horizon Europe SPINEproject, the system uses cameras and sensors to track parking occupancy. Real-time information is available to drivers on an information board on Fándly Street and online at smart.zilina.sk

Mayor Peter Fiabáne stated that the new system will help reduce the time drivers spend searching for parking, easing congestion in the city centre. Developed in collaboration with the University of Žilina’s ERAdiate+ Department, the project advances Žilina’s commitment to smart, climate-friendly mobility solutions.
