Students in Zagreb are bike sharing

A bicycle sharing project pilot project was introduced during this year`s European Mobility Week on Zagreb's student campus Borongaj. The idea came out of the ELAN project and being the first of its kind,  it is already a big hit among students and in the media!

The main idea of the Studocikl bike sharing scheme was to provide an alternative means of commuting from the Borongaj campus where most activities of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences take place to other buildings of the faculty in the centre of Zagreb. The scheme currently consists of 20 bicycles for students. Mario Ćosić, one of the employees of the Faculty and in charge of the scheme, explains that students and staff who decide to use one of the Studocikl bikes will reach their destination in less than 10 minutes, whereas it would take them some torturing 50 minutes by car. Borrowing a bike is easy. Students only need to log in to the system that supports Studocikl with their faculty ID and off they go! Studocikl is a shining example of a good cooperation and partnership between the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and a civil society organisation ODRAZ – Sustainable Community Development. We hope the Studocikl scheme will soon grow and become much larger and available to other students and faculties in Zagreb!
