Public Transport users in Ljubljana plan their trip with Google Transit
Public transport users in Ljubljana can now plan their trip by bus more efficiently. CIVITAS ELAN contributed to establishing a new tool that enables them to plan their trip according to valid timetable.
Google Transit calculates the distance to the closest bus stop, time to destination, shows interchange stops and predicts the cost of their trip. It is available through the internet and smart phones – on Google Maps, as well as on homepage of public bus operator LPP. The user enters locations (start and end of the trip) and the application shows three most appropriate possibilities to travel in a certain time period. It is also useful in cases when the user doesn’t know the name of the bus stop. “Google Transit” and “Real time information” systems make public transport in Ljubljana more desirable and user friendly, which is one of the goals of CIVITAS ELAN project.
