On 10-11 October 2024, the city of Split hosted the ninth CIVINET Forum, focused on public transport and sustainable mobility. The conference brought together over 100 participants from 10 different countries, including representatives from cities, public companies, academia, ministries, associations, and transport experts. In total 22 speakers enriched discussions on public transport, sustainable mobility, and climate neutrality.

The aim of the ninth CIVINET Forum titled “Journey Towards a Greener Future and Climate Neutrality”, was to exchange knowledge, and experiences, and present best practices in sustainable mobility. A particular focus was placed on innovative solutions, funding models, and the contribution of public transport to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

A number of panel discussions and presentations took place, on topics such as "How Public Transport Can Contribute to Climate Neutrality" and "How to Successfully Replicate Large Project Solutions in Local Communities – Why is Southeast Europe Lagging Behind Western Europe?”

Amongst many other speakers were Vita Kontić Bezjak from the City of Ljubljana, Aljaž Plevnik from the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, Mitja Klemenčič from the City of Maribor and Mervan Drpljanin from the Secretariat for Transport of the City of Podgorica.

The conference was organised by ODRAZ, the CIVINET Slovenia-Croatia-Southeast Europe Secretariat, in collaboration with the City of Split, the City of Zagreb, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and the Transport Community.
