EIT Climate-KIC, supported by FedEx Express Europe, have launched the Sustainable Cities Mobility Challenge 2025, inviting European cities to submit projects that promote creating greener, healthier and people-centred urban mobility.
Running for the third consecutive year, this Call seeks to identify and fund impactful, innovative projects that help accelerate the transition to cleaner, more sustainable and inclusive mobility solutions.
CIVITAS shares common ground in advancing smart and sustainable urban mobility, working towards a reality where cities are greener, healthier and more accessible for all. CIVITAS encourages all eligible European cities and towns to apply for the chance to highlight your city’s project as an example of strengthening mobility solutions across Europe.
Is your city eligible to apply?
Projects must broadly contribute to protecting nature and the environment, serving the public interest. This year, particular focus is placed on initiatives that create street spaces supporting healthy, active and green mobility. These projects not only benefit the climate but also improve quality of life, biodiversity and the overall sustainability of transport systems.
Cities and towns within EU Member States with a population of at least 25,000 are invited to apply.
Each selected city could win up to €90,000, with a maximum of four winning projects funded. Applicants should demonstrate how their initiatives directly address mobility solutions, that relate to several CIVITAS thematic areas, including:
- Active Mobility
- Public Transport
- Clean Fuels and Vehicles
- Smart & Connected Mobility
- Integrated & inclusive planning
- Demand & Urban Space Management.
Previous winners of the ‘Sustainable Cities Mobility Challenge’ 2024 include Cornellà, Lisbon, Liverpool and Utrecht — have demonstrated how urban mobility projects can create lasting positive impacts on their communities and residents.
Applications are open until 12 March 2025. For more details and how to apply, visit: https://www.climate-kic.org/sustainable-cities-climate-impact-challenge/.
