Commitment to cycle transport in Monza

CIVITAS Initiative

Since the beginning of 2010, Monza’s Cycle Transport has made huge progress. The work undertaken within the task includes a subcontract which was issued in February in order to build up knowledge on cycling measures. The first survey on Monza’s cycling routes was also completed.

The plan for the future is to develop a document containing criteria for a cycling route, to implement parking facilities and related services, particularly at key interchange nodes, to investigate the opportunity of launching a bike-sharing scheme. Finally, the new facilities will be promoted and supported by a devoted section on the Municipality website. Moreover in these last months (April-May 2010) a study on European parameters (namely “Bypad Audit” www.bypad.org is being carried out together with a study to identify the best measures to improve cycling mobility, which will lead to the definition of an abacus for the cycle lanes.
