The CIVITAS Educational Network is actively facilitating the cooperation between partner educational institutes by organizing general and dedicated sessions for institutes to come together to exchange experiences and ideas. The Network is active in three domains, specifically: student exchange, knowledge exchange and Joint Master programmes.

Recently, in March 2022, a CIVITAS Educational Network general session took place online, which aimed to familiarize the participating educational institutes with the CIVITAS Fresh Brains programme, as well as to come to an agreement on the future steps in the development of the specific working groups. The Fresh Brains programme was introduced by Dr. Zhan Goosen (BUAS), who explained that within the programme, organisations can approach CIVITAS with a challenge for which student insights would be helpful. The organisation and CIVITAS then collectively determine whether this challenge would be best addressed via an internship, hackathon, tactical urbanism activity, or urban living lab.

Following that, two partner educational institutes pitched their educational and research offers to their fellow professionals, namely: FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences (Austria), presented by Martijn Kiers; and University of Pardubice (Czech Republic), presented by Jiří Pašek.

Finally, Network partners reviewed and discussed progress with the official webpage of the network. In the upcoming weeks, they will be actively sharing information about their past and future student activities on this page. Follow the “News and Open Calls” section for updates.

The meeting closed with a lively brainstorming session about a joint student activity to be organized through the network during the European Year of Youth 2022. More information about the activity will follow soon on the official network webpage.

The next network session will take place online in June 2022 where three partner institutes will be pitching their educational and research offers: Technical University of Crete (Greece), Hasselt University (Belgium), University of Novi Sad (Serbia).
