CIVITAS and EU Urban Mobility Observatory at Cities Forum 2025

The Cities Forum 2025 took place in Kraków, Poland, from 17–19 June, under the theme “Empowering cities, shaping Europe’s future.” The CIVITAS Initiative and the EU Urban Mobility Observatory hosted a joint exhibition stand to showcase how both initiatives support cities in achieving sustainable urban mobility.
The event brought together around 800 participants, including city representatives, policymakers, and mobility experts, to discuss current urban development challenges and solutions.
Key Highlights from the Forum
Focused Discussions: Participants addressed pressing urban issues such as housing, digital transformation, social inclusion, and sustainable transport.
Sustainable Mobility Sessions: Dedicated sessions explored effective solutions for greener and more inclusive urban transport—highlighting the role of integrated planning and innovation.
Interactive Programme: The Forum featured policy dialogues, practical workshops, and site visits to local projects demonstrating successful EU-funded urban planning initiatives.
Networking Opportunities: The exhibition area served as a hub for exchanging experiences, tools, and best practices among city networks, institutions, and mobility practitioners.
Joint Stand: Supporting City Efforts
At the joint exhibition stand, representatives from CIVITAS and the EU Urban Mobility Observatory provided an overview of how each initiative supports cities in advancing sustainable mobility. Discussions focused on the range of resources, data, and guidance available to help cities develop and implement effective Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and local measures.
Strengthening Collaboration
The two initiatives also used the Forum as an opportunity to discuss future collaboration opportunities, including potential joint events and integrated knowledge-sharing activities. These efforts aim to improve how cities access, exchange, and apply information—supporting more effective and coordinated mobility strategies.
The joint presence at Cities Forum 2025 underscored the practical value of collaboration, highlighting how CIVITAS and the EU Urban Mobility Observatory together can help European cities accelerate the transition to sustainable urban mobility.
