CIVITAS Activity Fund introduces new mobility culture in Lisbon

CIVITAS Initiative

With the support of the CIVITAS Activity Fund, Metropolitano de Lisboa is introducing a new mobility culture to university students with the ‘Let us move you’ project in Lisbon (Portugal).

With the support of the CIVITAS Activity Fund, Metropolitano de Lisboa is introducing a new mobility culture to university students with the ‘Let us move you’ project in Lisbon (Portugal). The project aims to increase the number of young people using Lisbon's metro system and engage them in the decision-making process to achieve sustainable urban mobility in the city. To further this goal, the organisation applied for and will receive €6,000 in co-funding from the Activity Fund.

Metropolitano de Lisboa organised events on university campuses close to metro stations and is offering a €1,000 first prize for students submitting innovative new approaches to attract metro users. Workshops were held in two Lisbon universities in March 2015 and an online survey was made about the travel behaviour of young people in Lisbon. View some photos of these events below, courtesy of Metropolitano de Lisboa.

With the results of these activities, Metropolitano de Lisboa wants address the barriers that young people perceive in using public transportation and influence their travel behaviour in favour of sustainable urban mobility. If you are interested in following the example of Metropolitano de Lisboa, apply for co-funding in the Activity Fund's third call for applications until 6 May 2015 at civitas.eu/content/activity-fund.

For more information and all documents related to the call, visit the Activity Fund page or contact activityfund [at] civitas [dot] eu.
