A webinar on mobility poverty was organised on 1 July 2024 by Magyar CIVINET, together with CIVINET Romania and CIVINET Czech and Slovak Republics.Â
Mobility poverty is an emerging concept in the field of transport planning and management, with which professionals working in the field are not yet very familiar. The average transport user is even less aware of the existence and meaning of the concept, despite the fact that the negative effects of mobility poverty can often directly affect them.
The webinar was launched by the Mobility Poverty research project of the European Climate Foundation in partnership with Mobilissimus, which aims to explore the issue of mobility poverty and to present its different aspects to mobility professionals and decision-makers. The results of the research project were presented by András Ekés, CEO of Mobilissimus, and Dragoș Hrițuleac of Mobilissimus.ro. Dušana Dokupilová, a researcher at the Slovak Academy of Science, gave a theoretical overview of the topic, while Oana Petrescu presented a practical project of the Timisoara Community Foundation, which successfully addressed the issue of alleviating mobility poverty.
The event brought together more than 60 participants from five countries to learn about accessibility issues when it comes to mobility. Attendees were able to follow the presentations in English with Hungarian, Czech and Romanian subtitles and Romanian interpretation.
