Building business cases for the electrification of public transport

CIVITAS Initiative

From use case to business case: ELIPTIC continues work on business cases for the electrification of public transport in cities.

A 2nd series of workshops on development of business cases for electrification of public transport, run as part of the CIVITAS ELIPTIC project, kicked off at the end of last year in Barcelona, London and Oberhausen.

Building on the knowledge and understanding generated during ELIPTIC‘s 1st round of workshops which focused on use-case scenarios, these workshops brought together key stakeholders to discuss the next stage i.e. the transition process from use-case to business-case.

As such, presentations given outlining first results from the use-cases simulations, and  discussions were held on the analysis and final business case framework, and respective parameters.

Managed by ELIPTIC partner RWTH Aachen, and supported by the City of Bremen, Rupprecht Consult and UITP, these workshops provided valuable input into the development of business cases and technical solutions which have been evaluated using software based e-bus planning approaches.

ELIPTIC aims to assist the transformation of the respective use-case scenarios into business cases, resulting in implementations which demonstrate positive financial, technical and functional feasibility.
