Summary

Aberdeen Harbour Board has approval for plans to establish a new harbour approximately two miles from the existing harbour in the city centre.

Implementing sustainable mobility

Running in parallel to this, the City Council, along with consultants and Scottish Enterprise, are working on a Development Framework for the area adjacent to the new harbour. Both proposals will radically change access to this part of the city and will require changes to existing infrastructure.

Aberdeen City Council is currently finalising the overall transport strategy for the city and detailed actions for the City Centre which are captured within the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. Reviewing the entire harbour plan and the initial land uses for the surrounding area, which will be encompassed within a development framework, will enable the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan to be updated to reflect the impact of this important new infrastructure.
