PORTIS

Implementing sustainable mobility

The City of Trieste is currently facing a major challenge: to transform its Old Port Area into a fully integrated urban area through a participatory and institutional process.

To support this process, the City of Trieste will create a transport information platform in order to share data, provide and gather information, and keep in contact  with public entities involved in the Old Port project and stakeholders and citizens interested in the economic and social future of the city.

The platform will contain two main areas. One of these will be dedicated to Old Port project and contain a section reserved for project partners.

The latter will be used as smart mobility website and provide road users with real-time information on proposed, current, and emergency works, road traffic incidents, car park guidance, and other messages as required.

This tool will have an important role in SUMP development ad help to improve the mobility of citizens (especially commuters) within the city.
