Webinar on Gender sensitive mobility planning

Belgium

Webinar

The need to adopt a gender-sensitive perspective is emerging as a challenging and impending task for urban mobility planners and decision makers.

Women travel differently than men in relation to transport modes used, distance travelled, the daily number of trips and their pattern, and, not surprisingly, they also travel for different purposes.

Organised by the CIVITAS Thematic Group Integrated Planning, the webinar debated on emerging gender sensitive approaches on mobility planning for achieving gender equality in transport planning and accessibility. First the gaps to be filled about public transport and planning have been discussed, then the point of view of a civic platform to improve transport through citizens’ participation has been presented and lastly the successful city strategy implemented by a former demonstration city of CIVITAS II has been showcased.

The webinar  was organized by the CIVITAS Thematic Group Integrated Planning and took place on the 12 November 2014.

Agenda and presentations are available for download (see below, in the download area)
