Baltic Sea Region advancing towards Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning conference
GDYNIA, PolandWorkshopCIVITAS Initiative
The "Baltic Sea Region advancing towards Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning" conference will take place in the city of Gdynia, Poland on 23-24th October 2014. The event will be organised in the framework of the Baltic Sea Region Competence Centre on SUMP established within the CIVITAS DYN@MO project.
Many cities may find it a challenge to elaborate SUMPs which require a high level of stakeholders’ participation and establishing a detailed complex planning process. The conference will be organised with a view to supporting cities, focusing on the Baltic Sea Region, in their efforts to elaborate Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs). The main characteristics and different aspects related to the SUMP preparation and implementation process will be addressed and discussed in the conference.
Several cities will present practical examples of their SUMP measures. Among them is the City of Gdynia who is currently developing a next-generation mobility plan in cooperation with a variety of stakeholders and can be considered as a living laboratory for SUMP development. The conference will end with a site visit where participants will have a chance to get know some of the measures included in the Gdynia Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.
The event is targeted especially at Baltic Sea Region cities. Â
The Baltic Sea Region Competence Centre on SUMP brings together the knowledge and good examples of sustainable urban mobility planning from the Baltic Sea Region. The aim of the competence centre is to assist cities in developing their SUMPs by giving information and support, facilitating exchange of knowledge and experiences as well as offering training opportunities.
