Vratsa (Bulgaria)

Vratsa, a city in northwestern Bulgaria, has undertaken significant steps toward sustainable urban mobility. In 2019, the municipality invested €16 million to modernise its public transport system. This initiative included the acquisition of 13 electric buses and 9 new trolleybuses, alongside the installation of charging infrastructure and real-time passenger information systems. These upgrades aim to reduce particulate matter emissions and enhance air quality for Vratsa's residents. The city's trolleybus network, operated by Trolleybus Transport Vratsa, comprises two lines with 33 stations, covering areas from the northern to the southern parts of the city. Additionally, Vratsa's participation in the Intelligent Cities Challenge reflects its commitment to integrating digital solutions for sustainable developmentĀ
