Uzhhorod (Ukraine)

Uzhhorod is a mid-sized city in western Ukraine, situated on the Uzh river and bordering Slovakia. The primary mobility challenges facing the city are a high volume of private vehicle use, which causes frequest traffic jams, as well as a general lack of public transportation and cycling infrastructure,

In an effort to further define and tackle these challenges, Uzhhorod has developed a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), which analyses the current state of sustainable mobility in the city, defines a vision for the future, as well as identifies a plan to implement the SUMP. Key areas of focus include growing the public transportation network, increasing road safety, reducing overall transport emissions, and increasing the share of cycling and walking within the city.
