Penteli is a town and a municipality in the North Athens regional unit, which is in turn is part of the region of Attica. The town has 34,934 inhabitants. The municipality Penteli was created in 2011 following a local government reform. This was done by merging the three former municipalities of Melissia, Nea Penteli and Penteli. These then became municipal units.
