Küçükçekmece is a municipality located in the European part of Istanbul, serving as one of its major districts. Geographically, it lies on the shores of the Küçükçekmece Lagoon, which is connected to the Sea of Marmara. The local economy is driven by diverse industries, including manufacturing, logistics, and services. Characteristic features of Küçükçekmece include its rapidly growing urban landscape, extensive public transportation network, and the presence of significant cultural and historical sites such as the Yarımburgaz Cave.

Despite difficulties due to its high population, heavy use of private vehicles, and small surface area, Küçükçekmece aims to accelarate transition in the transportation sector as the second largest industry contributing to total carbon emissions.
