Çorlu (Türkiye)

Çorlu is one of the fastest-growing industrial and residential centres in Tekirdağ Province, facing rising demographic pressure and mobility governance challenges. Key transport responsibilities - including public buses, parking, road works machinery, and the intercity bus terminal - are managed at metropolitan level, limiting the municipality’s ability to directly implement sustainable public transport solutions.

The city operates a fleet of 135 vehicles, including service and construction vehicles. Two vehicles are electric, marking an initial step toward decarbonisation. Improving fleet efficiency and expanding low-emission vehicles remain priorities.

Mobility issues include heavy congestion in the city centre, limited pedestrian infrastructure, no dedicated cycling lanes, and poor modal integration. The Çorlu Urban Traffic and Transportation Plan proposes short-term measures such as redesigning 30 km of corridors and 20 junctions, reorganising traffic flow, and adding nearly 40 km of bicycle lanes.

Through better alignment with metropolitan strategies, Çorlu aims to deliver more sustainable and accessible mobility solutions.
