Inauguration of a new pedestrian street

CIVITAS Initiative

To celebrate the completion of another new pedestrian street on October 5th, 2006, the Council of the City of Burgos organised a big party inviting all citizens. The new street has also implemented new electronic bollards, as part of the CIVITAS CARAVEL project in the City of Burgos. To try to finalise the large pedestrian area in the city centre another street was inaugurated as a new pedestrian street, with the electronic bollards completely installed.

The City Council of Burgos organised games for children and pensioners. The party finished at dusk with a big session of fireworks.Citizens and neighbourhoods have generally accepted the new area and are happy with the new scheme in the city centre. There have been many meetings with the relevant stakeholders with good results. People want to live in the pedestrian streets despite complications due to the electronic bollards. There have been many letters and messages supporting the pedestrian street received.
