Climate Action - Energy for a changing world<br><br>Sustainable Energy Cities take the lead on climate change: the European Commission launches the Covenant of Mayors
On 29 January 2008 the European Commission launched the Covenant of Mayors. This ambitious initiative involves cities and citizens in the fight against global warming. The Covenant consists of the formal commitment of pioneering cities to go beyond the objectives of the EU in terms of reducing their CO2 emissions through energy efficiency and renewable energy actions, including in transport. In view of producing a final version of the Covenant representatives of local and regional authorities are invited to send their contributions and comments to the Commission by 30 April 2008.Expressions of interest to adhere the Covenant are also welcome.More information is available here
