37 New Trams and 45 New Buses in Zagreb

CIVITAS Initiative

As part of CIVITAS ELAN, Zagreb Holding - Department ZET - has successfully conducted a tender which led to the introduction of the first 37 new trams plus 45 buses that run on bio diesel in regular traffic. All vehicles were presented to the public at press conferences. Test rides were attended by the Mayor of Zagreb, Mr. Milan Bandic as well as representatives from Zagreb Holding - Department ZET.

During the CIVITAS ELAN project duration, the Zagreb tram fleet will be completely renewed by introducing low-floors trams that present a modern and innovative aspect of public transport, as they provide much better service for the citizens (air-conditioned vehicles with more space and easier access for disabled and elderly population). Furthermore, the complete tram fleet would comply with international environmental standards, as it would be more energy efficient, reduce emissions and decrease noise levels.
