To mark the launch of the CIVITAS e-publication "We dare to", an online peer-to-peer exchange event was organised. It featured the seven cities in the e-publication presenting their mobility measures in an interactive format. Six breakout rooms served as informal forums for discussing the measures with their respective cities.
Aachen and Madrid presented on e-mobility and public transport electrification; Bratislava and Sarajevo on public space re-allocation and tactical urbanism; Rethymno, Helsinki and Madrid smart solutions and smart planning; Aachen and Szeged on green mobility strategies with private companies; Bratislava, Sarajevo and Helsinki on boosting cycling with shared bicycle and cargo bike schemes; and Madrid and Rethymno on active modes and vulnerable road users.

This webinar explores a range of project pioneering innovative approaches to Mobility as a Service (MaaS). First Roberto Palacin from MyCorridor will present an international approach to MaaS, how to look beyond the local arena and implement MaaS across borders. This is followed by Maurizio Veronese from CIVITAS HANDSHAKE, who will present the MaaS situation and the bike sharing system in the city of Turin.
In many cases, MaaS systems require Public-Private collaboration to succeed, Soufian Jahouh from the MOBI-MIX project will present an interactive tool designed to help cities implement such collaboration in Smart Mobility. This webinar is moderated by Ivo Cre. The concept of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) claims to offer a personal mobility package based on lifestyle needs and delivered through a single interface and subscription.
The CIVITAS SATELLITE initiative brings you in this webinar examples of CIVITAS cities that have seen an opportunity on this trend and have worked on its implementation within their projects.
ECCENTRIC partners have developed the MaaS readiness indicators to ensure that all possible aspects of the current situation are taken into consideration before the local environment is ready for MaaS.
ECCENTRIC cities Turku and Madrid present the guidelines and their local approach to MaaS while PORTIS city Antwerp present their Mobility Marketplace and their MaaS approach focused on encouraging Public-Private cooperation.

What is co-creation, and how can it be used to begin transforming our neighbourhoods into more vibrant, livable spaces for all people who live, move, shop, attend schools, relax in them?
From 2-30 September 2019, the European project CIVITAS SUNRISE offered an interactive, self-paced e-course for practitioners in city administrations, who wanted to initiate and coordinate a co-creative process in one of their neighbourhoods.
Participants had the opportunity to learn directly from SUNRISE’s experts, who walked them through the co-creation process, highlighting the tools and strategies that have been applied in the six SUNRISE Action Neighbourhoods in Bremen (DE), Budapest (HU), Jerusalem (IL), Malmö (SE), Southend-on-Sea (UK) and Thessaloniki (GR).
A series of exercises guided participants through the process of creating their own, locally specific co-creation action plan for a neighbourhood of their choice. They were also able to discuss with other e-course participants through an interactive forum under the moderation of SUNRISE experts.

On Tuesday 19th November 2019, the H2020 project CoEXist and Civitas held a joint webinar on automation-ready transport modelling tools. The speakers addressed the question: How to include Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) in traffic flow and transport demand simulations?
The overall aim of CoEXist is to prepare the transition phase during which automated and conventional vehicles will co-exist on cities’ roads and to make local authorities “automation-ready”.
CoEXist defines the concept of “automation-readiness” as: “The capability of making structured and informed decisions about the deployment of CAVs in a mixed road environment.”
The webinar guides the audience through the new functionalities of the automation-ready modelling tools to understand the benefits of such functionalities.
It is explained how automated vehicles could be modelled at a microscopic scale the operation of CAVs in platoons as well as at the macroscopic level, including the impacts of CAVs on transport demand and traffic time performance.

The concept of MaaS claims to offer a personal mobility package based on lifestyle needs and delivered through a single interface and subscription. On 26 June, the first edition of the CIVITAS Webinar Series on MaaS took place. It discussed the how MaaS can be delivered sustainably. The next editions of the series are due in September and October, register here to learn about them.
Maria Kamargianni of the MaaS Lab of the renown University College London introduced the concept of MaaS, and its relation to public transport and other modes. She talked about the potential impact of MaaS for user, citing evidence of a London case study. She carried on explaining the effects MaaS might impose on urban transport as a system.
Suzanne Hoadley of Polis explained the perspective of cities and regions on Mobility as a Service. She emphasised that transport authorities are obliged to deliver mobility services to their inhabitants. Thus, she suggested that they shall keep control of the developments related to MaaS ensuring that the quality and level of service can be maintained.
Vincent Neumayer of Wiener Linien talked about the exceptional case of Vienna, that established its own MaaS environment, including their own app company. He explained the framework in which the Vienna MaaS system is set up and the services Wiener Linien and their subsidy deliver to interested other cities and transport operators. Stella Aaltonen of the City of Turku introduced the MaaS readiness indicator, which they developed in the CIVITAS ECCENTRIC project. She explained the indicators separately, emphasising the different dimensions of the matrix and their application. She carried on introducing first results of the pilot cities.

Automated? Autonomous? Self-driving? Connected? Cooperative? So many different terms, so many different questions, yet not that many answers. To clarify these and provide a better context to how the topic connected and automated driving (CAD) is shaping around the world, the CIVITAS SATELLITE project in cooperation with the H2020 CoEXist project organised a webinar on automation in cities on Monday, 26 February 2018, at 12:00 – 13:30 CET.
The aim of this webinar was to give an introduction to automation and initiate a dialogue to increase the awareness of local authorities and other urban mobility stakeholders and practitioners. Starting a discussion now will help cities prepare for and understand the issues that arise due to the constant technological development. The webinar particularly focused on the role of automation for public transport and gave a concrete example on how a mid-sized city is preparing for automation.

Sharing Cities and CIVITAS TRACE projects have organised a joint webinar on experiences related to mobility. Both projects work with this topic from different angles, providing a good opportunity to share and learn. EUROCITIES hosted the webinar as replication lead of Sharing Cities with speakers from the Energy Agency of Plovdiv (TRACE) and CEiiA (Sharing Cities) on 2 February 2018 from 11:00 to 12:45. The webinar was on behavioural change to ensure a greater effectiveness and acceptance by citizens of new mobility measures.
Ina Karova, from the Energy Agency of Plovdiv, presented the TRACE project which develops ICT-based tracking tools to optimise the planning and implementation of walking and cycling policies; all tools are accompanied by campaigns for their procurement. TRACE will end in May 2018 and has therefore already produced some valuable information that will be shared with you.
The lead partner in TRACE is the Technical University of Lisboa, which can also support the city of Lisbon in implementing those new solutions.
Carolina Carli from CEiiA presented the status of mobility measures in Lisbon, one of the lighthouse cities within Sharing Cities, highlighting the use cases which aim to change behaviours.
