Webinar
Following the recent call for a cycling strategy from the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Council, the European Parliament and the Committee of the Regions, a new policy report prepared by the European Transport Safety Council and the intense advocacy work done by the European Cycling Federation, the CIVITAS Thematic Group on Safety and Security gave its contribution to the policy development and kept CIVITAS cities informed and actively involved in this very important topic. This webinar's main objective was to present the new policy developments in cycling and cycling safety and the ongoing actions as well as allowing the thematic group members and the overall CIVITAS community to bring their concrete local contributions and experiences on board. It contained two presentations (1) Safe Cycling - How Europe Can Contribute? (2) Why do cyclists feel safe in Gdansk?
Webinar
How bikes can be transported on bus lines? Why combining bikes with public transport and where this solution can be convenient and effective? Which normative, technical and operational aspects have to be taken into account? Several measures have been already developed and tested in different CIVITAS cities. From the first experiences in Krakow, La Rochelle and Funchal to more recent solutions implemented in Brno and Zagreb, the option of carrying bicycles on board public transport vehicles is not only limited to tram and metro or restricted to folding bikes but could be easily implemented also on bus networks.
