CIVITAS SUITS E-Courses

This course on public procurement, innovative financing methods and business models is targeted at decision makers in cities. 

The course aims to elaborate on public procurement practices and identify methods that are used by cities to finance sustainable transport projects. 

The course instructors will also share their experience on innovative business models that enable cities to bring together various stakeholders in implementing sustainable transport. 

This course will be held both as a self-paced version with webinars and online conferences where participants will have an opportunity to directly interact with the instructors.

The course is being offered as part of the CIVITAS SUITS project.

The purpose of the course is to introduce extending sustainable public transportation and develop the feasible measures for public transportation to meet the future needs through interactive. Among the different measures for public transportation widely used in the world, in this course, we are going to explore two of them: BRT and Clean vehicles. Corresponding technology, cost-efficiency issues and relevant examples are discussed.

ACTUATE: Eco-driving - tram

The most effective way to train the eco-driving style is the on-road-training, but there are also other training possibilities. The ACTUATE team has established a series of online courses for professional drivers interested in optimizing their driving performance for reduced energy consumption.

GEF-SUTP Training Modules on Sustainable Urban Transport Planning (2013)

The Government of India (GoI) initiated the Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), UNDP, and the World Bank. The objective of the SUTP is to facilitate the provision of urban transport infrastructure and services in a manner that is consistent with the objectives of the National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP), which is a shift towards public transport and other sustainable modes of travel. One major component of this project involves building capacity amongst practitioners in the field of urban transport in order to strengthen policy making, decision-making, project implementation and management, operations and project evaluation skills at the central, state and city levels. The capacity building component of GEF - SUTP aims to establish the needed capacity for regular skill development of practitioners, public officials, other public functionaries, and urban professionals in the field of urban transport to be able to find solutions to these problems and apply the skills to planning. Accordingly, a set of 10 subject modules, each for a group of topics on subjects associated with sustainable urban transport planning, were developed by EMBARQ India, GIZ-SUTP and UMTC. These 10 modules are structured in such a way so as to provide the necessary background together with case studies and relevant learning’s for India that will provide a base to build capacity amongst the practitioners, city officials, etc.
