On 7 May 2014, CIVITAS held a highly interactive and inspiring training session on long-term evaluation. The keynote speakers were Eric Schreffler from ESTC in San Diego and Anders Wretstrand from Lund University.

How to effectively evaluate mobility measures in your city? Two hands-on presentations and three interactive exercises guided the participants through the do’s and don’ts of long-term evaluation of mobility measures in cities. The presentations and a hand-out with key insights are now available on the CIVITAS website. To be followed shortly by a guidance document on long-term evaluation that is being prepared by Lund University within the CIVITAS CAPITAL project.

Because of the very positive feedback we received from the participants, we are looking for opportunities to repeat this training. Interested cities or conference organisers are invited to contact Jan Christiaens from Mobiel 21.

Eric Schreffler is a transportation consultant at ESTC, San Diego. He focuses on quantifying the impacts of transportation demand management strategies on traffic congestion, energy consumption and air quality. Eric was involved in the MOST-project for the development of an evaluation toolkit.

Anders Wretstrand is senior lecturer and director of studies at Lund University. He is researching in the field of traffic planning, public transport and perceived safety and transport. He is currently working on the CIVITAS DYN@MO project on sustainable urban mobility planning, on the WP evaluation management.
