Ústí nad Labem implemented a CIVITAS public campaign to increase road safety level in the city. The public event was organised in front of the largest shopping complex in the city centre over three days, including both working days and the weekend to reach as many residents as possible.

In cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic and BESIP (Ministry of Transport), reports from road accidents were presented to the public, including pictures, videos, PowerPoint presentations, safety warnings advice on safe driving and educational leaflets. Citizens could experience traffic accident simulation using crash-test vehicles, where it was possible to experience the power of crashing at 30km/hour and when a vehicle rolls over at a low speed. A proper retaining system for protecting children of all ages in a vehicle was presented to the public in a special model car. The fire brigade simulated the evacuation of those invloved in an accident from a wrecked vehicle by heavy technique. Police presented their special vehicles and radars controlling vehicle speed of local drivers. Paramedics taught first-aid treatment and how to safe life in a traffic accidents.  A mobile traffic court equipped by CIVITAS for the Municipal Police  was utilised for the public campaign, with children encouraged to practise recognising traffic signs and correct traffic behaviour. After successful participation in the mobile traffic court, children were awarded a “Cycling license” and given CIVITAS presents, such as reflexive and protective accessories and cycling equipment. The results of the public campaign are currently being processed for the study of speed reduction in Ústí nad Labem.
