In October and December last year the first public opinion survey was conducted by Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana on different locations of the corridor in Ljubljana. Within 2 weeks around 1000 returned questionnaires were collected and entered into a data base for further analysis. The first results showed that the car transportation is deeply-rooted within the transport infrastructure of Ljubljana.

The majority of the respondents stated that they prefer using a car for numerous activities, while 33,2 % of the respondents used their car for going to work or school, 11,4 % are walking and 9,8 % are using the public transport (bus). Of those using a car 75,8 % are even driving alone.Nevertheless, the results of the opinion poll show great support to the planned measures which would change the current traffic conditions in Ljubljana. Respondents are strongly in favor of the construction of additional parking facilities P & R, establishment of a unified e- ticketing, implementation of passenger information services on electronic displays on bus stops, but hybrid bus implementation is supported most by respondents (60,1 % are very in favor, while 31,1% are in favor of this measure). The results of the opinion poll also show the great potential for cycling along with the development of safe cycling networks within the city limits and in the whole region and the necessity for a sustainable transport plan with the usage of public passenger transportation. This is mostly supported by young and higher educated respondents on one hand and the older respondents on the other hand.
