On 16 June 2010 a delegation from Monza, a partner in the ARCHIMEDES project, participated in the kick-off of CIVINet Italy held in the city of Genova. Genova is the promoter of the Italian Network and was involved in the CARAVEL Project among the CIVITAS II Projects (2005 - 2009).

CIVINet Italy is a network addressing to all Italian local authorities, associations, research centers, universities and other organisations (from both public and private sectors) which have an interest in urban transport and, in particular, in sustainable mobility. The meeting on 16 June was just the first one of many other seminars that will be organised to enhance the collaboration and exchange of experiences between cities, local entities and other relevant stakeholders. This first meeting of CIVINet Italy was the perfect occasion to present the city of Monza and the measures which are being implemented in ARCHIMEDES, and to share with the other Italian cities involved in CIVITAS Projects. These cities may have a similar context and similar mobility needs in the way they approach sustainable mobility in towns, collaborating with local partners and stakeholders, as well as attentively considering drivers and barriers for each specific measure and tool.
