The introduction of intelligent transport systems (ITS) in Zagreb have improved public transport considerably through a travel information service and a public transport priority system.

The travel information service is managed by a newly established control centre and 40 LED displays at public transport stops on Savska Street provide passengers with information in real time. The public transport priorty scheme was set up based on a mesoscopic simulation model using PTV VISSIM software. It has been introduced at three intersections on Savska Street. Initially, the intention was to test the system at all 12 intersections on Savska Street. Traffic light cycles have been synchronised at two adjacent intersections and at another intersection the priority system that uses RFID technology has been installed, as well.
