One of the objectives the CIVITAS ELAN team wanted to accomplish in Zagreb, was to define a high-quality mobility corridor where public transport, cyclists and pedestrians enjoy priority over individual motorised transport. Since the start of the project, Zagreb has come a long way!

The high-quality mobility corridor was supposed to stretch from the historic city centre in the northern part of the city towards and across the Sava River. Due to financial and time constraints, various activities that required infrastructure improvements were altered during the implementation phase. Improvements on the corridor include new cycling lanes and bicycle parking lots. Different traffic studies for intermodal public transport terminals were prepared. Moreover, two major studies were carried out: One looked into the establishment of the intermodal terminal Sava-North and the second study assessed the integration of Šarengradska Street into the traffic network of the City of Zagreb (Šarengradska Street runs parallel to Savska Street - the project demonstration corridor but in its current state it is not suitable for any transport mode).
