Effective solutions for green urban transport - Learning from CIVITAS cities(Brussels)

Brussels
12/09/2011

Based on experiences from CIVITAS cities, this workshop on 13 September 2011 in Brussels invited participants to learn about effective solutions for green urban transport. This showcase event was generously hosted by the Representation of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen to the EU, in parallel with the ICLEI European Convention 2011: Cities in Europe 2020 - Enhance Sustainability Now! The workshop looked at solutions in two thematic areas, namely: collective passenger transport, and safety and security.

Participants learned what CIVITAS pioneering cities have achieved and how, and were informed of how they can replicate these measures in their own city contexts. Examples from CIVITAS cities were showcased to present what they have achieved through the implementation of their measures; how they cooperated with other cities; and finally, what they learned and how they made use of this knowledge.

The workshop was an interactive mix of presentations and discussions, with participants encouraged to ask questions and engage with the speakers. It was free of charge. Photos of the event can be found here.
