Tallinn , MIMOSA

More than 20 delegates from Tiblisi, Sibenik, Warsaw, Madrid, Barcelona, Tirana, Helsinki, Hungary, Union of the Baltic Cities and Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities took part at the event organised by CIVITAS MIMOSA in the Estonian capital.

The presentations and photo gallery of the study tour are now available on the event page.

Participants had the opportunity to learn and see how the city implemented its new Public Transport Communication System and how it works on buses, trolleys and trams. Tiit Laiksoo from the Tallin Transport Department presented the advantages and cost savings of the new contactless Ticketing System. The city department also created Tallin Transport or "TT", a unified customer service and information system that has revolutionised also the design and image of the city's public transport network. TT also promoted several mobility management and marketing initiatives to make public transport more attractive for citizens.

Last but not least, after more than one year of operation of the scheme, the city officials presented and discussed with the delegates of the results and sustainability of the Free Public Transport.

The participation of city representatives at this study tour was co-financed by the support action CIVITAS VANGUARD. City officials and other practitioners can get in contact with their peers from Tallin and from other CIVITAS cities through the CIVITAS Thematic Group Collective Passenger Transport. The group is an essential tool for suggesting topics, co-organising or hosting activities like webinars or other study tours and obviously take part and learn or get inspired.
