Although numbers of cyclists are increasing throughout Europe, experts note that besides topography issues, one of the most popular arguments against cycling, especially in extremely hot or cold climates, is... weather! However, as sustainable transport specialists who have gathered for the annual CIVITAS forum in Brest say, numerous examples from cycling countries show that climate should NEVER become an argument against cycling. In Scandinavia, for example, often with support from municipalities, people have found ways of cycling to work even with temperatures as low as minus 30.

What are the most astonishing practices and experiences that European transport exports have gathered to discuss? What can Lithuanian cities learn from them? And what are the benefits of cycling?

Installed in the months of December at the busiest public transportation stop, electronic LCD panels now show the arrival times of public transport vehicles in real time. Bussipeatuste uued tablood oskavad pimedatega rääkida
    Description:

Detsembris paigaldati Tallinna kuude kõige tihedama liiklusega ühissõidukipeatusse elektroonilised tablood, mis näitavad ühissõidukite saabumist reaalajas. Ent pimedatele on kahtlemata kasulikust asjast sama palju tolku kui postidele kleebitud sõiduplaanidest. Tabloode juurde kuuluvadki nimelt spetsiaalsed kahe nupuga puldid, mille üht nuppu vajutades annab tabloo kohal olev valjuhääldi teada järgmisena väljuva ühissõiduki ja teist vajutades loeb ette kolm-neli järgmist väljumist. Tabloo võtab infot busside GPS-süsteemi kaudu ja on seega üsna täpne.
