CIVITAS Training: Urban freight and the sustainable city

THE AZKUNA ZENTROA ARRIQUíBAR PLAZA, 4,48010, BILBAO, Spain

Training

THIS TRAINING HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IN BILBAO ON 26 APRIL. UPDATED DETAILS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON SHORT TERM.

Inner urban areas are hotspots of economic, recreational and tourist activity. Citizens, tourists and entrepreneurs share the same space. At the same time distribution of goods is necessary to keep these areas functioning. Managing different flows and stakes in an economic viable and sustainable way is a challenge many cities face. But what are effective schemes to bring stakeholders together? How can these be aligned to achieve sustainability goals in terms of ‘people’, ‘planet’ and ‘profit’?

This training provides a combination of expert presentations and action learning in order to tackle these questions. In his key note Mr. John Dagevos (Telos institute for sustainability) will elaborate on the concept of sustainability and an instrument to index cities on their level of sustainability. Ms. Tanja Ballhorn (City of Copenhagen) will share the experiences of The City of Copenhagen in bringing together different stakeholders in order to develop effective and sustainable schemes for urban distribution.
By means of ‘action learning’ elements participants learn how to apply the concepts presented by the experts.

Target group
