From 11-12 July, CIVITAS project MOBILITIES FOR EU hosted two intensive days of workshops focused on the pilots to be deployed in Madrid. The event, hosted by partner Mercamadrid, brought together mobility experts and project partners to discuss and analyse a range of possibilities for enhancing urban transport.

Key topics included electric mobility, connectivity, autonomous vehicle opportunities, and the application of digitalisation and IoT. Mercamadrid will serve as a real-world laboratory for testing technical solutions and business models, aiming to replicate successful outcomes in other cities. With an average of 15,000 vehicles and 20,000 people converging daily in this logistics hub, it is an ideal space to explore present and future mobility opportunities.

In the MOBILITIES FOR EU project, Madrid and Dresden are leading the development of 11 pilots with 27 innovative mobility solutions. These initiatives, integrated into Urban Transport Labs (UT-Labs), leverage IoT, 5G technologies, data spaces, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy solutions, with the goal of enhancing sustainable urban mobility. Madrid’s commitment to climate neutrality and sustainable development positions it as a model city for the future of urban mobility.
